The radio play I've created is an excerpt from an original script of mine tentatively titled Turning Point.
The story is about a young man, Birdo, who is persuaded by his friends to take psychedelic drugs after being dumped by his girlfriend, Jenny. In the ensuing spiritual journey, he confronts his shortcomings that got him to that point, and it becomes a turning point in his life. Music is central to the story and journey, as he is an aspiring musician. This script is a condensed version of the scene in which he gets dumped.
The play is presented from the first-person perspective of Birdo. Thus, his dialogue was not processed for binaural, along with any sounds that would occur directly in his ears (e.g. earbuds, telephone), in order to make a more convincing, realistic first-person experience for the listener.
I recorded all of the dialogue myself using a simple microphone made in the Max Lab, and I applied affects in Audacity to alter the sound of my voice. Other music and sound effects were either from my personal library or found online and were similarly altered as desired in Audacity.
