Final Presentation

For this presentation, I decided to combine work I am doing this quarter in Music 220a with work that I will be doing next quarter in an introductory seminar called Singing Early Music by recording an a cappella version of Corpus Christi Carol and processing it using chucK filters and trackers. The piece was written anonymously around 1504, but endures to this day as one of the seminal examples of an early modern English hymn.

The goal of this music was to highlight the counterpoint between the stark, cold sounds of computer generated electronic music and the warm sounds of a human voice singing a piece that is hundreds of years old. Techniques and effects used included reverberation, echo, panning, amplitude-frequency tracking, and multi tracking. Garageband and chucK were used to mix the final studio version.
