Comments:

This piece is to cause an auditory streaming illusion. It has two parts. In the first part, it begins with four notes, and two illusions. The first the instruments. The first instrument is an octave higher than the other two, thus allowing for the line to be clearly picked up. Further, its texture is different, allowing the listener to hear it even more clearly as a distinct descending line in clear opposition to the ascending line that was being heard earlier. However, since the notes are together in a major scale, the mind puts them together in the first few repetitions, and then takes them apart after.

The second part of the piece uses the last note of the first part to begin slowly. This part also has a panning effect (more prominent than in the first part), which allows for what seems like a single coherent melody to become two melodies, one distinctly heard in the left ear, and the other heard in the right (higher octave vs. lower octave also plays a part although the notes are fairly close together).
