In this assignment, I'm trying to create an "absent-minded" pianist. The pianist inteprets music as she likes while ignoring the so-called "instructions" of rhythm, dynamics, etc.
Music: I compose the piano piece specifically for this assignment, and add the scripts I wrote as the "instructions".
Script: There are three parts of the scripts, an English instruction about how to interpret the piece, a humming to mimic the rhythm, and a Chinese count of beat numbers.
Sound Effects: Steps sound, dance steps sound, and the door-open sound effect.
So my piece consists a piano composition, several layers of voice, and a few sound effects.
Both piano and voice were recorded through the Air Mic I built (though it's not a fancy microphone in a recording studio, it works pretty well, except for a little bit noise introduced by the recording and the sound interface), and sound effects are extracted from the sound library.
I'm trying to manipulate the panning of the following sound sources: piano, voice, and sound effects. The final file is a binaural file representing the four channels.
I designed the movement of sound source as well as applying effects in audacity, and exported 4 mono channels into chuck.
I use the StereoRecorder to get the final output of wavefile.
BinauralPiano: A chuck file to play the binaural version of wave file
4ch-Piano: A chuck file to play four channels
Listen to this absent-minded-pianist, and always follow your heart when treating the music : )
