Overlap-Add (OLA) Interpretation of the STFT

In the OLA interpretation of the STFT, we apply a time-shifted window $ w(n-m)$ to our signal $ x(n)$, selecting data near time $ m$, and compute the Fourier-transform to obtain the spectrum of the $ m$th frame. As shown in Fig.8.1, the STFT is viewed as a time-ordered sequence of spectra, one per frame, with the frames overlapping in time.
