Present Status of the Open Dictionary

This appendix summarizes the current state of development of the Open Dictionary.

The Open Dictionary is presently implemented as a directory website (``categories'' and ``links'') enforcing a dictionary paradigm on its content:

• High-Level Category = ``Context'' or ``Field of Knowledge''
• Leaf Category = ``Term being defined''
• Link = ``Definition''
• Definitions for the same term compete for ratings

Features of the current implementation include the following:

• Browsing
• Searching
• User registration
• Login/Logout
• Modifying definitions
• Adding (possibly competing) definitions
• Ranking competing definitions
• Adding new terms (and their definitions)
• Adding new contexts and sub-contexts
• Editor's Web page for conveniently checking and accepting proposed additions and modifications

All features for modifying the Open Dictionary in any way are accessed by means of HTML forms displayed by a web browser.
