This appendix summarizes the current state of development of the
Open Dictionary.
The Open Dictionary is presently implemented as a directory website
(``categories'' and ``links'') enforcing a dictionary paradigm on
its content:
- High-Level Category = ``Context'' or ``Field of Knowledge''
- Leaf Category = ``Term being defined''
- Link = ``Definition''
- Definitions for the same term compete for ratings
Features of the current implementation include the following:
- Browsing
- Searching
- User registration
- Login/Logout
- Modifying definitions
- Adding (possibly competing) definitions
- Ranking competing definitions
- Adding new terms (and their definitions)
- Adding new contexts and sub-contexts
- Editor's Web page for conveniently checking and accepting proposed additions and modifications
All features for modifying the Open Dictionary in any way are accessed by means
of HTML forms displayed by a web browser.
