I used a clarinet as my instrument in Chuck and the song "Take On Me" as my sample for this assignment:
I chose the clarinet because when listening and trying out the different instruments on Chuck, I found that I liked the sound of the clarinet the best. I chose "Take On Me" as my sample because it has a lot of catchy melodies, and I have always enjoyed listening to it. As such, I wanted to incorporate it into this assignment.
For the clarinet, I changed a few things in the code. For one, I raised the pitch because I wanted a higher pitched clarinet, and thought it sounded better than a lower pitched clarinet. I also added moderate reed stiffness, to give the sound more bite, and low vibrato frequency, to make the volume enter and recede from the picture. I found that these two parameters together added some cool effects to the clarinet.
In terms of the actual piece, I wanted to have a uniform form. So, I set up a sequence of logistic-random-sinusoid-sinusoid-random-logistic, with each algorithm occupying two sporks before moving on to the next. The last 13 seconds of the piece present a coda, where the form is continued, with the logistic-random-sinusoid progression.
