For this assignment, I sampled a brief section of a well known piece for solo cello and orchestra accompaniment: Kol Nidrei by Bruch. Since this piece is very dramatic, intense, rich, and full-bodied, I wanted to contrast it with an instrument that is somewhat empty or hollow. I decided to use an instrument model that would produce a percussive, yet airy sound. I was able to achieve this by using the Clarinet physical model in ChucK and modifying for a more transparent reed tone and stronger pressure on the attack. The piece overall has a very steady rhythm, as both shreds run on the same timeline.
