This piece demonstrates the auditory perception of groups within a monophonic piece. It does so by creating "groups" of tones with similar parameters (i.e. pitch, volume, location, etc). During each section of the piece, the tempo changes from either fast to slow or vice versa. This allows the listener to hear a contrast between the perceived grouping (when the tempo is fast) and the obviously monophonic tones at a slower tempo.
