Description:

This project is bidirectional synchronized two pianos four hands piano piece performance through internet 2 environment Also this project is on the continuum of the “SoundWire” in CCRMA and “DIP” in Mucaoco projects. The interesting points of this performance, Leila and me haven’t met before actually for practicing or performing together before. Only during last week, we have practiced two times through this system. Using microphones on each end, we can discuss and communicate enough well about music motif. Because we can’t see now each other, all tricky scores seemed to hard to play with good synchronization. However, breathing is one of the best alternatives to start together after fermata. It really worked. When we had practice before, we used also metronome which also works. So the most important factor to make this kind of performance success depends on delay time caused from internet environment.

Furthermore:

So far, we only have sound performance, no video. Needless to say, video of other ends definitely affect good effect for performance on both sides. So next step would must be screen included between CCRMA and Mucaoco. But my final goal is conne

+cting S.Korea Seoul and N.Korea Pyeongyang through internet. I’m now planning to have a performance, from which the most world famous conductor, MyungHoon Jeong from Seoul Art Center conducts Pyeongyang national Orchestra in Mansujang. For the dream, the very next step is checking the delay time between nationwide, S.Korea CT KAIST, USA Stanford CCRMA and USC Mucaoco. In that sense, California StreamIN is absolutely milestone of those two future steps.
