Dueling Seismometers

This is a piece derived from two seperate recordings of the same event pulled from two different seismometers from the same station. The left channel features a broadband, high-gain, vertically-oriented seismometer's data (10Hz-80Hz), and the right channel features a long period, high-gain, vertically oriented seismometer's data (~1Hz), which is sampled at ~1/20th the rate of the left channel seismometer, and whose values are transposed to be closer to the BHZ's numerical range. The result is a harmonized riff being played by the grinding of tectonic plates. The finale is a more literal sonification of the seismic event, with the broadband time series played and normalized at 16 kHz.

Frequency was a result of ((Math.pow(x(t), -6.0) - 90) * 10000) + transposition
