This piece has six elements of three types. The rhythm type, which consists of two instruments (saxofony [in amplitudeTracker.ck] and organ [in amplitudeFrequencyTracker.ck, manipulated for faster and slower responses]) played through a microphone, appears in the first half of the piece and plays to a rhythm. The free type, which consists of the same instruments, appears in the second half and plays without tempo. The scored type, which imitates the dynamics in sections of a nature recording (see the above picture of my score), was made with two reverbed vocal tracks. The first track, which appears in the second half, imitates part of the recording where the dynamics vary slightly and certain nature sounds repeat consistently. The second track, which appears in the second half, imitates a point in the recording where the dynamics change quickly and significantly.
I did not sample any sound for this piece, but my scored section is based on the nature recording graciously provided by CCRMA on the webpage for this assignment. Additionally, when I was composing the rhythm section, I used as a click track the piece "16-16-9-20-1-14-9-7" by Factory Floor.
