For this assignment, I decided to use a sound sample from the Dark Knight. I picked a small excerpt from the Joker's speech to Harvey Dent about Chaos. The sample wav is included in the files links below. I chose a Mandolin as the instrument, and experimented with various combinations of time-varying parameters and different algorithms, both for the physical instrument simulation and for the sampling. For the panning and binaural mixdown, I decided to make the mandolin simulation pan between the front two speakers, and the sampled track pan around in a 360 degree arc, with a lot of reverb to give it a deep, creepy sound to it.
