Music 220a - Final Project: Live Vocal and Sample Looping

Chuck Files / Data Files

Description

For our live performance Victoria and I sought to create a piece in SLOrk style, as we did several times with SLOrk last spring. We decided to approach a couple of our older instruments now equipped with more technical skills in Chuck, and to modify/improve them while simultaneously constructing new similar instruments. My drum looper was an adapted instrument fashioned with a brand new set of samples that I recorded with my handheld microphone and then modified before adding them to the code. My vocal looper was a new instrument I built from some example code and messed around with until it was functional for our performance. In the end Victoria and I wanted to expand our abilities as performers and live Chuckers and I believe we did so by utilizing multiple instruments at once and by composing and successfully playing a dynamic song that changed naturally with the human voice and body movement.
