The Lesson

For this binaural radio play, I took excerpts from Eugene Ionesco's "The Lesson"*. I wrote the text and played it back in MaxMSP with the object aka.speech, rendering two different computer voices for the characters of the play. For the ending of the play, I applied Pitch Shifting and Bitcrusher to the voices (in Logic Pro). Then, I recorded a few sound effects (door and footsteps) with a self-made microphone and put them through a Phaser effect (in Audacity). Also, I took a recording of a Musette song and applied a Ring Modulator effect on it (in Audacity). I spatialized the sound files in MaxMSP with the Ambisonics objects from ICST, applied real-time reverb (freeverb) and recorded four separate channels. Afterwards, I used the ChuCk programming language to convert the four tracks to a binaural file.
