Software
Applications, libraries and environments supported at CCRMA include:
- emacs / xemacs (NeXT / Linux / Irix)
- A very powerful and highly configurable text editor.
- lisp (NeXT / Linux / Irix)
- An overview of the Common Lisp environment at CCRMA.
- lyx (Linux / Irix)
- LyX is a free program that provides a more modern approach of writing documents with a computer. Compared to common word processors, LyX increases productivity, since the job of typesetting is done mostly by the computer, not the author. Technically this is done by combining the comfortable interface of a WYSIWYG word processor with the high quality of a real typesetting system. LyX uses the most popular typesetting system available: LaTeX, but no knowledge about LaTeX is required.
- gimp (Linux / Irix)
- Gimp (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) is an image editor similar to Photoshop with layers and tons of plug-ins. It is free and comes with source code. You can write your own plug-ins if you dare, and there's even a scheme (ie: lisp) based scripting language.
- jMax (Linux / Irix)
- Software from IRCAM which provides a graphical environment for audio and MIDI processing.
- pd (Linux / Irix)
- Miller Puckette's graphical environment for signal processing, a relative of jMax and Max/MSP.
