Upon graduation, Palter studied privately with Bob Becker in Toronto, specializing in Ragtime xylophone music, before moving to The Hague in the Netherlands to study at the Koninklijk Conservatorium, Den Haag where he received his diploma in music performance. Palter also received a Master's degree in performance from the University California, San Diego, where he is currently working on his D.M.A. under the guidance of Steven Schick. Palter performed as a soloist in the Amsterdam Percussion Festival, participated in the Holland Festival, performed as a guest at the Banff Center for the Performing Arts, and has held xylophone masterclasses in Amsterdam and at the Rotterdam Conservatory respectively. In the summer of 1998, Palter was invited to perform before Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands for her birthday celebration. Winter 2000 found Morris in residence at Stanford University with the SIRIUS contemporary music ensemble.
