Music 220b [Winter 1996]:
Algorithmic Composition Techniques


Meets Tuesday 2:15-4:30 in the CCRMA Ballroom at the Knoll.

Course Description

The second course of a four quarter sequence covers basic operation of the Common Music / Stella / Lisp composing environment. Allied topics are explored by exploring a set of musical examples in Stella, including digital synthesis methods, algorithmic composition, psychoacoustics, musical acoustics and digital audio. The first quarter course (220a) treats synthesis methods in close detail. The third quarter (220c) is a student projects seminar and can be followed with subsequent quarters of independent work (220d).
