Research Group @ CCRMA

Music, Computing, and Design (MCD) is a new research group and initiative in CCRMA at Stanford University. Initiated in 2007 by Ge Wang, MCD aims to conduct new, cool (and important) research in computer music, including in (but not exclusive to) the following areas:

  • design of software systems for computer music (of all types and scales)
  • programming languages and interactive environments
  • software interfaces / interaction paradigms for composition, performance, and education
  • music information retrieval
  • computer-mediated performance ensembles (e.g., laptop orchestras; also see slork)
  • performances paradigms (e.g., live coding)
  • education at the intersection of computer sicence and music
  • We enthusiastically invite students, faculty, researchers, composers, and collaborators to join! Please contact Ge for more information, with questions, or anything else. Thanks!
